The Berean Society is a group of information security
professionals living and working in such a way to bring glory and honor to our
Lord Jesus. Our name comes from the citizens of Berea in Macedonia.
What is a Berean?
A Berean readily receives the Word of God. A Berean is eager to study God's word and
grow in faith. This same dedication to continuing education is applied to our profession.
A Berean listens and reads carefully, then deliberately compares
the message to the Scripture. This discipline and attention to detail is an essential attribute for an information
security professional.
As the Bereans guarded Paul's safety, so to do we guard the
truth of Scripture. We also strive to
protect the resources to which we have been assigned.
A Berean is self-motivated. As the Bereans continued to study and learn after Paul left, so do our members. A Berean is self-motivated to grow spiritually and professionally, and will allocate the required time to do
so.
A Berean should be
known for his love of God, his obedience to God's word, his integrity, his humility,
and his dedication meeting the high standards required by God and our chosen
profession.
How do I become a Berean?
Membership in the Berean Society is by invitation only. Current members may nominate information
security professionals for consideration by the membership committee.
